1. How to check when RPM packages were installed:

a. if you do not know the exact package:

[root@florian ~]# rpm -qa --last | grep kernel
kernel-devel-2.6.32-358.11.1.el6.x86_64 Thu 15 Aug 2013 02:23:46 PM CEST
kernel-2.6.32-358.11.1.el6.x86_64 Thu 15 Aug 2013 02:16:15 PM CEST
kernel-headers-2.6.32-358.11.1.el6.x86_64 Thu 15 Aug 2013 02:12:47 PM CEST
kernel-firmware-2.6.32-358.11.1.el6.noarch Thu 15 Aug 2013 02:12:38 PM CEST
